Acoustic modifications and venting options of earpieces are a useful tool in fine tuning your hearing device.
In conjunction with today's technologically advanced hearing devices, proper modifications will improve sound with the elimination of the "echo" effect and frequency control.
A vent diminishes the resonating sound produced by the earpiece. A vent may be installed in any mold per your requested specifications or based on audiogram. Sizes are .03mm, .06mm, and .09mm
This is a smaller and less conspicuous version of the SAV. Sizes are as follows:
1. 0.5 mm
2. 0.8 mm
3. 1.0 mm
4. 1.6 mm
5. 1.9 mm
The belled bore, or open bore, used commonly in conjunction with a short canal, is an option in any style mold. The canal tip of the mold is hollowed out in order to boost high frequency.
Select-a-Vent allows for office modifications without drilling. Six sizes are provided on each tree. (SAV trees are also sold separately as supplies.) Sizes are as follows:
1. 0.8 mm
2. 1.6 mm
3. 2.4 mm
4. 3.2 mm
5. 4.0 mm
Non-occluding molds reduce the feeling of fullness caused by earpieces. These styles are typically skeletons and semi-skeletons with any canal length. Two options are available: Non-occluding #1 is a regular non-occluding earpiece; #2 is a non-occluding mold which includes a SAV.
A vent may be installed in any mold per your requested specifications or based on audiogram.
When this modification is requested, the canal will be shortened to 1/4 of an inch past the aperture. Because of the loss of retention, this is not advised with a canal mold. If 1/4 inch does not meet your needs, please specify by putting a mark around the canal of your impression and write under special instructions “short canal where marked”.
(BELLED BORE)~ The canal tip of your mold is hollowed out approximately 1/4 inch deep. Open bore is a common order in conjunction with a short canal. We do not shorten the canal unless requested.
This modification is available in any style and material. This mold has a short canal with an open bore and an SAV. The most popular are skeletons and semi-skeletons made of Lucite.

If you do not specify canal length, we make the non-occluding molds with short canals. A non-occluding #1 is a regular non-occluding mold (does not fill up the canal of the ear). Rings for insertion in the earmold are softer and can be used in any material. They are supplied attached to a tree and can be pulled off as required for greater efficiency. Six sizes are supplied with each request . (The trees are also sold separately as a supply item.)
